Mull Wildlife Week

The islands of Mull and Iona offer wildlife watching opportunities amidst some of the most stunning scenery in the UK. Sea eagles and golden eagles, otters, minke whales, puffins, seals and dolphins are commonly sighted around the islands and the elusive Corncrake is often heard and seen on Iona, as well as the Treshnish Islands and increasingly on Mull.

Now a regular feature and it is held regularly on the second last weekend of August every year since 1993. The festival has now expanded to include Thursdays for the 'Young Folk Night' and during 2004 the festival was expanded to Wednesday to include the 'Gaelic Concert Night'. This event brings the Scottish sailing crowd in from miles around

Since our beginning in 1984 the Islay Festival Association must have greeted literally hundreds of thousands of visitors. This year we will be featuring an outdoor gig, Gaelic lessons, music, songs, ceilidhs, fishing, whisky tasting and much more.

The 2013 Malts Cruise will start in Oban on Saturday 6 July with the first social function of what will be a very convivial two weeks sailing, and will finish in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull on Thursday 18 July, in time for the Highland Games.

Arbroath Sea Fest is an annual festival of the Sea held along Arbroath's seafront and centring around the town's charming harbour and new marina. Established in 1997, Sea Fest is a popular celebration of Arbroath's marvellous maritime heritage, attracting over 30,000 visitors over its two-day duration in August each year.

Cowal Highland Gathering is the biggest, most spectacular Highland games in the world. It’s renowned for its unique atmosphere, world-class competitors, beautiful Highland location and spine-tingling salute to the Chieftain.

With a mix of Highland dancing, pipe bands, traditional wrestling, heavy athletics, ceilidh music, children’s entertainment and local food, there’s something for all the family to enjoy.

Tarbet Music Festival

The music festival is held here in September each proving very popular.

The event features contemporary and traditional Scottish Music set in the pubs and hotels around the harbour, with several bands playing in each venue in a pre planned rotation so you get to sample most of the bands that play that evening.
The event runs for a weekend and provides a marquee on the quayside for the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon entertainment.

Our Festival takes place every year and draws crowds from near and far to celebrate the Viking heritage in Largs, notably the Battle of Largs of 1263 which was the scene of the last Viking invasion in the UK and led to the Treaty of Perth in 1266 when Norway ceded all claim to the Western Isles

World Stone Skimming Championships

Easdale Island is the smallest permanently inhabited island of the Inner Hebrides. It was once the centre of a thriving Scottish slate mining industry, and one of the disused quarries forms a perfect arena for the World Stone Skimming Championships.
The championships are held every year on the last Sunday in September. Anyone of any age and any level of skill can enter. Each competitor is allowed 3 skims using specially selected Easdale slate skimming stones.
